Why I built Hotelia
I've spent more than a decade in the booking world. I operated hotels for Marriott brands, moved into the short-term rental space with Airbnb, and became a host myself. From every seat, the chain, the marketplace, and the independent, I kept watching the same thing happen.
A guest would fall in love with a property, book through an OTA, and fifteen to thirty percent of that booking would vanish in commission. Margin the hotel had genuinely earned, gone before the guest even arrived. And the booking engine, the single most important page on a hotel's website, was treated as an afterthought by every platform I used.
Independent hotels were paying enterprise prices for software built for five hundred room chains, handing their guest relationships to marketplaces, and losing the direct revenue that should have been theirs. So I built the tool I wished I'd had: one platform that wins the direct booking, keeps every dollar, and makes each stay worth more.
