The Human Side of Hospitality: Launching Hotelia.io
Independent hotels are getting squeezed. We built a way out.

A year ago today, I started building around one belief: small hotels should be able to keep more of their revenue. They should not have to depend so heavily on OTAs. They should not have to waste money and time using scattered, disconnected systems just to run their business.
I knew there was a better way, and deep down, I wanted to solve this problem for independent hotel owners.
I am building for a community I know well. Independent hotel owners are some of the most detail-oriented, thoughtful, tasteful, hardworking people there are. They wear many hats. They care about hospitality. They care about how a space feels. They care about service, presentation, atmosphere, and the guest experience down to the smallest detail.
I am part of that community, and I wanted to build something worthy of it.
Hotelia.io was created to help independent operators take back control of their revenue and their time. We are doing this with modern technology that is smart, fast, and connected across the entire operation, from your team's workflow to the guest's journey.
One thing I strongly believe is this: hotels should know their guests. You should be able to impress them and create experiences that feel personal. To do that, your staff needs the tools to anticipate needs and offer thoughtful options that make people want to come back because the stay was done exactly right.
That belief is built into Hotelia.
But personalization shouldn't just be a buzzword; it should be practical.
I've been thinking about how most hotels approach add-ons. It's usually early check-in, late checkout, or parking. Important? Yes. Strategic? Not really. The better question is: Who are your guests?
If you serve business travelers, true personalization is offering a "Work From Anywhere" upgrade right at the time of booking. It's an enhanced desk setup, an ergonomic chair, an extra monitor, stronger WiFi, and early coffee delivery. That's solving a real need. If you're leisure-focused, it's date night packages, kids' activity kits, or wellness recovery sets waiting in the room after a long travel day.
When add-ons are thoughtful, they feel like true hospitality. That is exactly why we built customizable add-ons directly into Hotelia's booking engine.

For the past year, I've been building, refining, streamlining, automating, and training Hotelia to handle the heavy lifting behind the scenes so hotels can focus more on the guest, the experience, the environment, and the performance of hospitality itself.
Hotelia is opening its doors with the essentials, building from a strong foundation so we can continue to improve alongside you:
- We are focused on helping hotels increase revenue by building the best two-way booking engine ever built.
- We are focused on operations with less manual work and more automation. Guest requests, housekeeping workflows, and repetitive tasks should not slow teams down if technology can handle them well.
- We also want to help hotels keep the experience personal by giving them better guest insights, loyalty insights, and tools that support stronger relationships.
- And to help operators make reservations quickly and naturally, our back-office AI booking assistant allows staff to simply tell the AI who is coming and when, and the booking is created in seconds.
I'm not building for the chain-first world.
I'm building for the independent owners who pour so much into their properties and genuinely want to make them special. The passionate ones. The ones who love to host. The ones who care deeply.
I believe the future of hospitality is changing. Some things must stay the same: human service, warmth, taste, recommendations, and the feeling a great hotel creates. But the systems behind that experience should become faster, smarter, and more supportive.
Hospitality should feel more personal, not less.
That is the foundation of Hotelia: doing right by the hotel owner and doing right by the guest. Because when someone stays at your hotel, it isn't just a transaction. It's the beginning of a relationship.
Hotelia is built because we love hotels. We're excited to begin onboarding our first customers because we care about this industry, we care about independent owners, and we care about helping you win.
And just like hotels love returning guests, we're building something worth coming back to.
There is so much more coming because independent hotels deserve better tools.
And we're committed to building them.
